Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Your permits and account are private. We use your information to process permits, provide guidance and operate Honk. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
1. Who operates Honk
Dispatch Robot, Inc., a Delaware corporation, operates Honk. This policy describes the permit app and its related services. Contact privacy@honkchallenge.com with privacy questions or requests.
2. Information you provide
Account and profile
We store account identifiers and the name, phone number, email address or optional profile photo you provide. Honk can create an anonymous account for your first permit. Account information lets you access, recover and manage your permits; your profile is not publicly searchable.
Permit documents and routes
We store the PDFs, images, QR links and other permit content you submit, extracted details and restrictions, prescribed route geometry, review changes and processing status. These documents can contain names, contact information, vehicle details and other personal information. Submit only content you have permission to share. For QR imports, we retrieve the linked permit from its issuer or website.
Purchases
We store purchase identifiers, entitlement status and permit credit transactions to grant and restore access. Apple or Google handles payment details; Honk does not receive your full payment card information. RevenueCat helps validate purchases and sync access with our backend.
3. AI permit processing
When you add a permit, Honk sends its contents and relevant route information to third-party AI services to read the document and build its route. Our processing uses OpenAI or Vercel AI Gateway with configured model providers, including Google, OpenAI, Groq or Cerebras. Vercel also provides isolated processing infrastructure. The providers used depend on the configured processing service. If you don’t want a permit processed this way, don’t add it to Honk; you can still view existing permits and manage your account.
Provider services receive the content required to process the permit, which can include personal information printed on its pages. Their service terms and privacy policies govern their handling of that information. Do not submit a document if you do not want its contents processed by these services.
4. Location and navigation
When you grant location permission and use navigation, Honk and Mapbox use your location to show your position, prepare an approach to the permitted route and provide guidance. Active guidance can continue while the screen is locked or the app is in the background. We store permit-run start/end times, duration, distance and off-route summary metrics; the permit service does not store a continuous trail of device GPS samples. The imported permit's prescribed route is stored with the permit.
We do not sell location data or share it with insurers, fleets or data brokers. We do not provide live location sharing with other users. You can revoke location permission in device settings; this limits guidance but does not prevent permit review or account management.
5. Device information and diagnostics
PostHog records product events and device/app information to understand usage. Sentry records errors, crash diagnostics and performance information to help us fix problems. These services may receive account identifiers and technical information about your device, session and app activity. We do not deliberately include permit contents, precise coordinates, phone numbers or names in product analytics properties.
6. Service providers and other disclosures
Convex hosts account and permit data and our application backend. Authentication and messaging services support sign-in and account recovery. Mapbox supplies maps, routes and navigation. OpenAI, Vercel and configured AI providers support permit processing; RevenueCat, Apple and Google support purchases; PostHog and Sentry support analytics and diagnostics.
We disclose the information needed for these services to operate. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in a business transfer subject to this policy. We do not sell personal information or share it with advertising networks, data brokers, insurers, lenders, fleets or brokers for their own marketing or profiling.
7. Permissions and choices
Camera permission lets you photograph permit pages, scan permit QR codes or take a profile photo. Photo-library access is limited to the images you choose for permits or your profile. File and share import lets you select a permit PDF. Location permission supports guidance. You can decline or change permissions in device settings and use another available import method. Adding a permit sends it for AI processing as described above.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep account and permit data while the account is active. You can delete individual permits from the app. You can initiate account deletion in Settings → Account → Delete account, including for an anonymous account. A confirmed request disables access and starts permanent deletion of your account, permit source files, routes and associated data immediately. Account deletion cannot be undone or recovered by signing back in. The app keeps a private, random receipt token on your device so you can receive a completion confirmation after deletion finishes, including after signing out or restarting the app. The server keeps a non-personal completion receipt for seven days after completion.
Limited records may be retained where required by law, security or transaction obligations, and service-provider backups may follow their own retention cycles. Deleting the Honk account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel the subscription in the store settings to stop renewal.
9. Your privacy rights
You can review your permits, update your profile, delete permits and initiate account deletion in the app. For access to other personal information, a copy of your information, corrections or other privacy requests, email privacy@honkchallenge.com. We may verify your identity before completing a request.
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other states with applicable privacy laws may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of sales, profiling or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for that advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
10. Security, age and international use
We use safeguards designed to protect your information, including encrypted network connections and account-based access controls. No system can guarantee absolute security. Honk is intended for users aged 21 and older; we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. Contact us if a minor has provided information. Honk does not collect biometric identifiers such as fingerprints, facial recognition templates or voiceprints.
Honk is operated for U.S. users. Information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate; their privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will notify you in the app of material changes before they take effect. New uses or disclosures requiring permission will be presented for your consent.
